Nutritional therapy seeks to identify the root causes of imbalance in the body and employs the use of whole foods and supplements to address any deficiencies. Stress and poor dietary choices often lead to impaired absorption, where the digestive system isn’t producing enough enzymes to break down food, and this can lead to inflammation in the gut. Healthy digestion is key to wellness, we are not only what we eat, but what we absorb! I often work on these key concepts first, as our nutrition is the foundation to health.
We are now also in a time where awareness is being brought to genetic malfunctions and the effect of our lifestyle and environment on our predisposition to disease. I also work on enhancing these metabolic cycles in the body and advice on reducing exposure to DNA and hormone disruptors.
This approach to Nutrition is often called Functional Medicine, and key areas are assessed in a consultation.
The participation in the process by the patient is key to the success of the protocols. I believe we work as a team on the road to wellness.
