What Is Herbal Medicine?

The use of plants as medicine is a part of our birth right. Over 80% of our world population use plants as their primary healthcare. We are now living in a time when people are remembering their connection to the plant world and the great benefit of a harmonious relationship with nature on this planet.

As a Registered Herbalist and Naturopath, I’m interested in using the least synthetic intervention in healthcare, seeing the great results of using natural medicine over the last number of years. I also encourage an integrative approach, combining the use of both allopathic and complimentary, when necessary, and properly supervised. There is great research going on in this field, and a number of herbs are being now scientifically proven to treat many common pathologies, while also having being used for thousands of years by our great ancestors all overthe world.

I use plants as medicine in a combination of dried herbs, tinctures, glycerites, syrups, essential oils and flower essences. They can be used safely by all the family, though a consultation is necessary for me to prescribe as medicine. We are undergoing regulation in herbal medicine throughout Europe and in keeping with this, I am fully qualified, having trained for 7 years with CNM. I’m registered with the Irish Register of Herbalists and the Irish Naturopathic Association, and have up to date insurance to practice. We regularly undergo Continual Professional Development, to keep up our skills.

While I treat people in a one to one setting, I also give workshops and talks in Herbal Medicine and Naturopathy. Watch out for Upcoming Events.
